“Limited Collection” line of designer handsets

Carphone Warehouse is prepping a line of devices for its new “Limited Collection” line, an all-designer showcase for all that’s new in mobiles. The line will feature two handsets from designer Ted Baker, and one each from Mandarina Duck, Levi’s, and Porsche. Everybody’s into expensive, trendy, new handsets but apart from the Porsche (Sagem) and Levi’s (ModeLabs) sets, these are just same old, same old with expensive accessories and new color choices.

The Mandarina Duck mobile phone brings the company’s informal contemporary style to a fashion-friendly handset with the help of some bold colours, Cherry Red, Purple and Green. Sagem Porsche was mentioned a couple of articles before. LEVI’s allows you to make it as personal as your favourite jeans by customizing it in over 500 different ways! As for the Ted Bakers, they are supossed to be smart in esthetical and technical sense. The Levi’s and Ted Baker Button should land in October with the rest of the collection arriving in November.

Expensive designer phones are definitely an ongoing trend in the mobile phone market. Vertu has pioneered it and their newest phone lines are more like expensive Swiss watches. The problem with these expensive designer electronics is that they tend to be not cutting edge in terms of the technology and feature-set. If they are, then you only have about 6 month and it is outdated.
