Marantz has unveiled its new 1080p single chip DLP front projector, known as the VP-15S1, at the CEDIA Expo in Denver, Colorado. This higher-end 1080p DLP projector for home theater today, comes in the same package as last year’s model but with significantly enhanced specifications.

Along with the single-chip DLP anamorphic lens, it also features Konica Minolta Optics, Gennum VXP video Processing, HDMI 1.3 inputs with Deep Color capability and 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution. The VP-15S1 also sports 1000 lumens brightness, a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, a 5x six-segment color wheel and vertical lens shift. Marantz has developed VP-15S1 that can be used in conjunction with the company’s new LN901M motorized anamorphic lens kit.

Also updated is the color processing, from 10-bit before to 12-bit now. But the most notable aspect of this new release is the severe price cut: $9,999 (the previous model was $15,280). The Marantz VP-15S1 shares much of the technology that is equipped with the award-winning VP-11S1. To grab the projector with the optional lens kit, you will have to shell out around $12,500. It will be launched in November in Japan.

Orbit Remote for the ladies who want to controll everything

Orbit Remote for the ladies who want to control everythingSource

If you always lose the possession of the remote control when sitting in front of the TV, then the Orbit Remote should come as a great gift for you because you’ll have to misplace your arm to manage to lose the remote. The Orbit Remote from Chloe Fung comes in the form of a bracelet that you can wear it on your wrist. It has most of the basic functions of a TV remote control, that ensures you to be in the possession of the TV in front of you, so you can always get to watch your favorite channels. The buttons are placed around the edge so you can rotate it to find what you want to do.So for the ladies who have to endure watching a football game because their husbands have monopolized the control, it’s payback time. You can easily play a prank to your man, just like in high school with the TV remote wristwatch.

Interesting design, yes, but ultimately pretty useless when compared with a real remote. However if you would be interested in purchasing it, too bad it’s still concept.

Hot News on Samsung UpStage

We wrote the other day of Samsung UpStage and his wonderful qualities. We have some new photos and information. You can buy the phone for $149 (with a two-year service agreement).
One side is for music only and has a arge 2.1-inch LCD screen and the other side looks normal with a 1.4-inch LCD screen.

About the music you can listen, is a little bit tricky. Sprint claims that the owners of this phone will be able to upload music with Sprint Music Manager, or download it from Sprint’s online music service, where you can choose from 1.4 million songs for just 99 cents. It won’t work with online music from stores like iTunes or Napster.

We come and correct what we said about the lifetime of the battery because it seems like you can go one talking for 6.3 hours talk time, or 16 hours when playing music, because of a battery wallet.
It looks like is opened season for Music Phones, or Flip Phones or TV Phones. And i must say, is good that we can choose from a large variety of products!!!

Apple TV Plays Now XviD Format

Well, it didn’t take long for something like this to happen. Because just yesterday I was writing and reading at the same time, peoples impressions about Apple TV, and today, what do you know?? The dream becomes reality!!

Apple TV Plays Now XviD Format

What do you have to do:

  • Remove the hard drive and mount it on a Mac, where it appears as a native HFS volume;
  • Installing the SSH server Dropbear, the video container Perian, and a custom script lets the Apple TV play files outside of its normal MPEG-4 and H.264 standards.
Of course, nothing is perfect. The good samaritans who did this, say that QuickTime movies is required for each XviD to prevent the hub from directly synchronizing the movies themselves.

We appreciate the effort and wait for the improved solution of hacked Apple TV.

    Apple TV Review

A lot of photos appeared today on the internet with the new, “revolutionary” Apple TV. There are a lot of discussions, of what is Apple bringing new, why should we buy it, and how smart can you be, to leave behind the video cables from the package.
We have some photos below, to see for yourself, what is this thing looks like.

So, now we know what it looks like, let’s see what it does: It streams your personal items from iTunes and whatever you have on iTunes, plus your music, plus any videos you have in the H.264 format, streams it all to your TV. Is that all? You wonder. Well in simple terms, that quite is. Looks like Apple won’t handle the competition if things go this way, and far much superior than Apple TV is Xbox 360. We just have to wait and see the consumer reaction, want we?!
These are some reaction and very good argued. Apple doesn’t bring something new at this chapter.
Walt Mossberg writes : “it worked great, and we can easily recommend it for people who are yearning for a simple way to show on their big TVs all that stuff trapped on their computers.” like there weren’t any ways before!!!! Rrrrighht!
We are gonna stay a little with Walt Mossberg, to see his conclusions, because his been testing the Apple TV. He also says : “The main limitation was felt to be the inability to stream much content from the internet.” Well, that doesn’t sound too god! Especially when this is a strong characteristic of Apple TV.
We are neutral, and we present the positive aspects too:

Apple TV can be set to automatically synchronize with a designated computer, mirroring content onto the 40GB Apple TV hard drive. Meanwhile, up to five additional computers can be used as streaming sources for the Apple TV.
….. tested this synchronization function with both a Mac laptop and a Windows Vista desktop, and it worked perfectly on both.

    And other downsides:

The only downside of streaming as compared to syncing is that you can’t stream photos.
Also, the tiny, simple Apple remote control can’t control the volume on either Apple TV or your TV set or audio receiver, so you have to keep reaching for the TV or audio receiver remote. And you can’t plug in an extra hard disk to add storage capacity, even though there’s a USB port on the back and the built-in 40-gigabyte drive is too small to hold many TV shows or movies.

You better read and learn more about Apple TV, before you go and buy it for $299.

Another widescreen or LG 3000:1 monitor?

    lg-monitor.JPG
LG 3000:1 contrast screen monitor, comes now (actually in a few weeks) with all those qualities that have an “er” at the end: finer, crisper, clearer, brighter, and we can’t say blacker, but the black becomes much more than just a non-color. LG steps ahead with the highest contrast ratio in industry and we wouldn’t aspect less from them.

The first set of monitors to get the 3000:1 contrast will be the 60 series and Vista widescreen models.

Samsung get thinner with a 12mm Thick 17 inch OLED TV

This is pretty geek for me so I gone quote Crunchgear:

By using a hybrid of OLED and active matrix LCD technologies, the new screens eliminate the need for a backlight, meaning the largest (and heaviest) part of the screen is gone. The result is a svelt 12mm thick display, suitable for mounting anywhere.

In conclusion this is one thin LCD OLED TV.

    Check the pictures:

    samsung-thin-lcd-tv-kes20063.jpg samsung-thin-lcd-tv-kes20062.jpg samsung-thin-lcd-tv-kes2006.jpg

Samsung SDI presented 17-inch AMOLED TV set at KES 2006. The panel is only 1.8mm thick and the TV set is just thin as 12mm. It features a brightness of 400 candela, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and 170 viewing angle.
