Apple TV Review
So, now we know what it looks like, let’s see what it does: It streams your personal items from iTunes and whatever you have on iTunes, plus your music, plus any videos you have in the H.264 format, streams it all to your TV. Is that all? You wonder. Well in simple terms, that quite is. Looks like Apple won’t handle the competition if things go this way, and far much superior than Apple TV is Xbox 360. We just have to wait and see the consumer reaction, want we?!
These are some reaction and very good argued. Apple doesn’t bring something new at this chapter.
Walt Mossberg writes : “it worked great, and we can easily recommend it for people who are yearning for a simple way to show on their big TVs all that stuff trapped on their computers.” like there weren’t any ways before!!!! Rrrrighht!
We are gonna stay a little with Walt Mossberg, to see his conclusions, because his been testing the Apple TV. He also says : “The main limitation was felt to be the inability to stream much content from the internet.” Well, that doesn’t sound too god! Especially when this is a strong characteristic of Apple TV.
We are neutral, and we present the positive aspects too:
Apple TV can be set to automatically synchronize with a designated computer, mirroring content onto the 40GB Apple TV hard drive. Meanwhile, up to five additional computers can be used as streaming sources for the Apple TV.
….. tested this synchronization function with both a Mac laptop and a Windows Vista desktop, and it worked perfectly on both.
And other downsides:
The only downside of streaming as compared to syncing is that you can’t stream photos.
Also, the tiny, simple Apple remote control can’t control the volume on either Apple TV or your TV set or audio receiver, so you have to keep reaching for the TV or audio receiver remote. And you can’t plug in an extra hard disk to add storage capacity, even though there’s a USB port on the back and the built-in 40-gigabyte drive is too small to hold many TV shows or movies.
You better read and learn more about Apple TV, before you go and buy it for $299.
